Over £2000 raised at Thetford's BIGGEST Macmillan Coffee Morning

The Mayor of Thetford encouraged the town to "eat cake, eat plenty of cake" and that's exactly what Thetford did and they did it in their droves!

On Friday 28th September, we co-hosted Thetford's BIGGEST Macmillan Coffee Morning, raising money for the cancer charity Macmillan, who support those who are battling this terrible disease and their families.

A huge variety of sweet and savoury cakes were on offer and literally hundreds of locals made their way to the Carnegie Rooms on Cage Lane to sample the goods and enjoy a cuppa and a chat.

On the morning over £2000 was raised with further donations still coming in, we hope to release the final total in the coming days.

A special thank you has to be made to Roy Brame (Mayor) and Karen (Mayoress) who kindly supported this event by donating the use of the premises and the refreshments from his Mayoral Allowance, David Brooks and his team at The Carnegie Rooms who set out the tables and tidied away afterwards and, of course, Thetford Town Council for throwing the weight of their support behind the event (particularly Kerry Leader and Tina Cunnell).

This event would not have been possible without the superb support from local businesses, community groups and individuals:

  • Randale Care
  • Deb-on-air cakes
  • Thetford Park Runners
  • Manor Court Care Home
  • Cheryl and Sally Hutt
  • Traquinas Childcare
  • Ford Place Nursing Home
  • Thomas Paine Hotel
  • Metcalfe, Copeman & Pettefar Solicitors
  • Andrew Francis Funeral Directors
  • Guildhall Tea Rooms

Thank you additionally to all those who donated cakes, their time and prizes for the Raffle.

We are taking a month off now but will be planning next years' event which will take place on Friday 27th September 2019. Watch this space for further information.
